At the Future of Advice in Flintshire event held on the 20th October, participants felt it would help them greatly to have a brief summary of the range of advice providers, including eligibility criteria and contact details. We have therefore developed this booklet which provides a list of all the organisations working in Flintshire who offer some level of advice. It provides their contact details and a brief overview of what advice services the organisations are able to provide. It will detail the people that they support, the locality that they work in, and any eligibility criteria that the organisations have. This is an easy reference for anyone who is looking at what advice provision is available in the county but for specific projects and needs it will be best to contact the organisations direct, using the contact details provided. Please note, there have been some changes to the way Debt Advice is now licensed and regulated in the UK. From April 2014, the Financial Conduct Authority has become responsible for all Debt Advice Agencies operating in England and Wales. This means it is very important that agencies who offer debt advice quote their licence numbers, and the public are able to see whether agencies are offering licensed advice or simply signposting or offering ‘supported assistance’.
Obviously, large reputable agencies such as CAB will not need to ‘prove’ their licensed status, but residents of Wrexham and Flintshire need to know that what is being offered by other agencies is a registered advice service or just low level support.
