Age Connects North East Wales supports older people in the communities of Flintshire and Wrexham by offering the following services: Information and Advice: information provision on a wide range of issues to people across the area via the telephone, through information drop-in sessions and other promotional events. Advocacy services providing advocacy support to older people, including safeguarding and specialist domestic abuse and hate crime. Offers free and confidential advice for older people who are victims of abuse. Older Peoples Support Service provides short-term support to older people to remain independent and to continue to live in their own home safely and securely. Visits are completed in the older person’s home so the advisors are able to identify any issues causing concern and provide the appropriate information and support. The holistic assessment looks at areas such as income maximisation, housing support and health and wellbeing. Telephone Befriending provides social contact to older people who are lonely to prevent isolation. Volunteering opportunities are a great way of meeting new people, learning new skills, being involved in your local community and having fun at the same time. We offer a range of opportunities including telephone befriending, internet shopping, and meeting and greeting people at our activities or toenail clinics. No qualifications are needed as training and support is provided throughout. Without the support of volunteers, a vast number of our services and activities would not be able to run. Home Solutions is a chargeable service, designed to promote better access to a full range of services for older people, including housework, assisted shopping, prescription collection, accompanied visits to appointments and more. All support workers are fully trained, insured and police checked. Toenail cutting sessions are provided by fully trained staff at a range of venues. This is a chargeable service, and some medical exclusions do apply. Advant-age are financial services offered throughout Advant-age partnership, and assists access for older people to funeral plans, travel and home insurance, equity release, will writing, power of attorney and other essential products for older people. As we are a not-for-profit organisation, our chargeable services help support our charity work as any surplus made is directed back into the Charity.
