Welsh Border Community Transport (W.B.C.T) has six (6) minibuses which have tail-lifts to accommodate wheelchair or less ambulant passengers, plus there are three (3) single wheelchair vehicles. Organisations and individuals pay a small membership to use these vehicles which allows them to book a minibus or small vehicle when they require it. In addition, W.B.C.T has three (3) MPV type cars plus approximately twenty (20) volunteer drivers who use their own vehicles.
The organisation operates across Flintshire transporting older and disabled people to local clubs, societies, lunch groups and shopping plus medical appointments both locally and to the various regional hospitals. Approximately 80% of funding for W.B.C.T is provided by Welsh Government by means of a grant through the local authority. The remainder is provided by way of a minimal charge paid by the individual for each journey or by some of the town and community councils who support W.B.C.T directly on behalf of its residents. n
