VOLUNTEERING

Volunteering

We work with hundreds of local and national organisations who are looking for people to help them and we can help you find the role that is ideal for you.

Are you an organisation looking for help with recruiting or managing volunteers?  If so, visit our page for organisations

Why volunteer?

People volunteer for all sorts of reasons including:

  • To meet new people
  • To try something new
  • To have fun
  • To do something you enjoy
  • To help get into paid employment
  • To put something on your CV
  • To get practical experience whilst studying
  • To use skills or qualifications you already have
  • To get out of the house
  • To gain confidence
  • To feel useful and valued
  • To feel part of a team
  • To give something back to the community or a cause you believe in
  • To do something different

There are different ways you can find local volunteering opportunities:

Help to get you started with volunteering

If you are not sure what you would like to do or would like some additional help, we run a supported volunteering project that helps people take part in some volunteering taster sessions and provides the chance to work towards a level one qualification. The project is run several times a year and lasts 6 – 8 weeks.  Sessions take place once a week, with each one lasting approximately 5 hours.  Taking part in the project is free and transport can be provided.  For more information on this scheme, please email [email protected] or phone 01352 744000
