Brand new Flintshire Volunteer Awards for June 2026

Nominations are now closed.

This year is a special one for all of us involved in volunteering, no matter what form that takes.

Not only do we have Volunteers Week as usual in the first week of June, but the United Nations has declared 2026 the International Volunteer Year (IVY 2026) to recognise volunteering as a key driver of sustainable development. Launching on International Volunteer Day—5 December 2025, IVY 2026 is a call to governments, organisations, and communities worldwide to champion volunteering in all its forms—formal and informal, local and global.

This year, FLVC has made significant changes to its awards for volunteers, and we are hosting a new Volunteer of the Year Awards event during Volunteers Week. We now have five categories of awards:

The following are the categories that you are encouraged to nominate volunteers for:

Volunteer of the Year – open to anyone aged 25+.

Volunteer Team of the Year – open to any team or group of volunteers aged 25+

Special Award for Young Volunteer of the Year – open to anyone under the age of 25

Special Award for Young Volunteer Team of the Year – open to any team or group of volunteers where at least 80% of members are aged under 25.

We prefer it if you just nominate one individual and / or one team from your volunteers. If you wish to nominate more than one volunteer, then please consider nominating them as a team, rather than as individuals. It could cause awkwardness if you nominate more than one individual volunteer, as only one person can win! If we receive multiple individual nominations from an organisation, it is highlight unlikely that we will be able to choose one person over another.
